Leon has this uncanny ability to recognize the play unfolding and reads and reacts before his opposition knew what hit them. Around the net Leon has tremendous hands combined with his quick release which caused havoc all year for goaltenders. He will use his power to drive the net and bang home a garbage goal or fend off a defender using his powerful size to control and protect the puck then unleash a quick snapper in the back of the net.

The best asset of DeLuca’s game is his hands. They are magic and can beat any defenseman in this league with some impressive dekes. He’s incredible in the shootout one on one versus a goaltender as well. His hands are very quick, and he has a great arsenal of moves that can make look every goalie look foolish. Then you add this to his great wrister and it becomes a dangerous combination. He loves to have the puck on his stick, and if he doesn’t have it, he will ask for it in the offensive zone.

He has great goal-scoring instincts, always trying to get open in the offensive zone to take a shot. When the puck doesn’t go in as well it did in the 2nd half of the season for him this season, he needs to stay focused even more, as the rest of his game tends to suffer and he gets impatient and selfish on the ice. At times, he needs to simplify his game, as he cannot try to beat every player on the ice. He can be too fancy with the puck. When he wants he can play a decent physical game, but it needs more regularity.
